A meeting took place on Thursday 15th November at 35 Main Street to discuss a proposed planning application for 13 Main Street
PRESENT
Mrs S Saunders Chairman Mr N Pridmore Mrs K Humphries Prof N Witts Mrs G M Wilkinson Clerk
APOLOGIES Mrs Roberts ( in hospital) Mr D Lanning
Councillor Saunders called the meeting to discuss the following planning application:
Mr David Slater, for the conversion of the existing building at 13 Main Street into two separate dwellings, and the erection of a two storey dwelling at the rear. This required reducing the width of the road available for traffic.
The applicant had said that he had already had numerous pre-application meetings and discussions with Nick Hodgett, the area Planning Officer, together with their architects. The Highway Officer who inspected the access/exit and road positioning indicated that they would need to enter into a section 278 agreement with the Council to improve the access way. This would entail increasing the width of the pavement, and putting in new glazed brick curbs and improving the drains outside 13 Main Street.
Councillor Saunders and Councillor Lanning had met Rob Baxter from Highways and were also joined by David and Hayley Slater. The Highway Officer said that no measurements had been taken previously, and that the road width had to remain a minimum of 5.6 metres wide for traffic. It was thought that this was a controversial application and members felt that there should be a special open parish meeting for residents to discuss it. It was agreed to hold this meeting on Tuesday 20th November.
Other planning applications presented to the Parish Council for their comments were: Plot 1, Durant Farm, erection of a three storey dwelling and associated works (revised scheme 2007/D107). To be circulated to Parish Councillors.
A copy of a letter from Keith Hensby, Dovecote Close, with his comments on the proposed alteration to the Baptist Chapel. He felt that the kitchen was too big, and would impinge on their privacy.
