Welcome to the Barrowden Parish Council pages. Here you will find details about the Parish Council, the Parish Councillors and their responsibilities, Parish Council meeting minutes, when the next parish council meeting will take place, the Village Design Statement and the Parish Plan.

Barrowden Parish Council has 7 elected members, who meet 6 times a year in Barrowden Village Hall. Parish Council meetings usually start at 7:45pm, which allows the public 15 minutes to speak before the start of the meeting. It has responsibility for maintaining the village greens, recreation ground, pond and other open spaces in the village. The parish council is consulted on all planning matters in the village and has close links with other organisations in the village including the Barrowden Charities. The community are actively involved in making Barrowden a great place to live. In 2003 a Village Design Statement was completed, which will ensure that Barrowden retains its charm and develops in years to come. And in 2005 a Parish Plan was completed.

Barrowden is in the Ketton ward and it has two county councillors, who are Barrie Roper and Hugh Rees. They can be contacted by e-mail broper@rutland.gov.uk and hrees@rutland.gov.uk. They hold ward surgeries on the first Saturday in each month taking the months alternately. They are at Barrowden Shop between 9am – 9.45am and in Ketton Parish Room between 10 am – 10.30am.

The next meeting will take place on Tuesday 21st September 2010 at 7.45pm in the Village Hall. This will be the Parish Council AGM at which the election of officers takes place. Everyone welcome.

The Village Design Statement is available to download from the RCC website. Please follow the link. It is a very large document, so I would only advise this if you have a broadband connection.
