Thanks to a wonderful turnout for The Help in March, Barrowden Cinema will continue and we hope to show two films before Christmas and two during the start of 2013.

The films and equipment are hired from Oundle Outreach Cinema (OOC) and the projectionists (who are just avid film buffs) give their time voluntarily.  OOC’s project of bringing film out into the community has been very successful and they now want to encourage local volunteers to use the projectors themselves.

We have been lucky enough to have a screen fitted in the Village Hall and the next step is a sound system – both of these make the exercise of setting up much easier. We are now going to explore the cost of a sound system and hope to have this in place for September.

Now for the crunch… would anyone like to train to become a projectionist? One or two of us are keen but another body would be welcome. Training just involves going to see a few films (free of course) in the local area and watching 'how it's done'. If you are interested, please phone 747026 or 747828.

Remember any films can be hired from OOC – if a number of younger people want a particular film this could be arranged for a Saturday morning or an evening during the holidays, but you have to tell us!
