Barrowden and Wakerley Defibrillator Group

Who would have believed, it is a year since the above idea was muted and the Trash and Treasure Garage Sales were being organised. I then thought I would have a long struggle to raise the money needed to get the Defibrillator scheme up and running. But thanks to Jim Boulton from the Karen Ball Fund who heard my Rutland Radio appeal and contacted me with the offer of a Defibrillator for the villages, the struggle disappeared and panic set in as I realised we were virtually up and running. Little did I know there would be further hiccups to overcome.

By the time you read this Wakerley should also have had their information on the running of the scheme to use the defibrillator.

There are a few people I would like to thank for their ongoing support and advice. Firstly to all those who donated money through the Trash and Treasure and afterwards. This information has been in the mag before and they know who they are.

Then to all those who attended the training meetings – around 30 people – and most of all those who eventually agreed to be responders – without you this scheme could not run. Thank you again, also to Brian Naylor our instructor.

To my group of helpers who steered me through the fine tuning of the scheme.  Tim Latham (our secretary and computer wiz) and his wife Sarah, Dr John Merritt (who kept me on the straight and medical and composed all the literature, and borrowed ‘Annie’ to help with our training sessions). Daphne Murphy, Rita Headley-Waudby, George Smith, Julia Nicholls and last but by no means least my husband David who erected the box and has put up with me getting thoroughly immersed in the scheme sometimes at the expense of family and home. I couldn’t have done it without you all.

Also a big thank you to Debbie Rossell (Amracks) who has given all the printing and laminating.

The trouble of doing a thank you list is you are bound to miss someone.  If I have you know who you are and I thank you also!!!!!!

This is the last epistle you will have from me hopefully regarding the defibrillator. If anyone has any queries or information which will help with the scheme, please let me know 747822.
