HOW TO HIRE THE HALL
Please contact Rita Headley-Waudby (01572 747244, villagehall@villagelinks.co.uk), who will let you know if your chosen date is available. She will then inform you of the correct charges and details of key collection. All hirers must complete a booking form (obtainable from the Village Hall).

LIGHTING
A light switch (for main hall) can be found inside the sliding doors on the left-hand side. This also operates the boiler room light.
The other light switches (for main hall) are at the back of the hall near the store room.
The light over the front door and those in the ladies’ and gents’ toilet is switched on by the right-hand light switch in the kitchen!
Please Remember To SWITCH OFF All Lighting Before You Leave.

EQUIPMENT
The Village Hall has crockery, cutlery and chairs for 80, a water heater, cooker, hob, fridge and kettle. Please make sure all appliances are switched off at the end of your hire and all crockery and cutlery used is left clean and put away. |
PAYMENT
Please use the payment envelopes available in the hall and follow the instructions. The hall must be paid for at the end of your hire. Cheques should be made payable to ‘Barrowden Village Hall’. .

HEATING
Boiler Please use the warm air boiler (situated in boiler room) to heat the hall. Turn on using switch adjacent to it. Make sure the boiler room door is closed, when boiler is in use.
Electric Panel Heaters in Main Hall PLEASE DO NOT USE TO HEAT THE HALL FROM COLD. These are supplementary heating and only intended for use once the hall is warm. Please use only during meetings, when the need for quiet is essential ie Parish Council and WI.
This heating is expensive; your careful use would be appreciated.
These are on a time switch located near the store room door. Press once for ½ hour, twice for 1 hour and 3 times for 2 hours. See notice in hall.
Please do not alter the individual settings on any of the panel heaters. They may be turned off using the control panel. See notice in hall.
Electric Panel Heaters in Toilets Please do not alter the settings on these as they are used to prevent burst pipes.

CLEANING – All Hirers
Prior to leaving the hall at the end of your hire, have you…
turned off all heating (boiler and electric) cleaned all work surfaces cleaned all sinks in kitchen and toilets made sure all crockery and cutlery is left clean and put away wiped all tables that have been used and put them away emptied all bins and replaced liners taken any excess rubbish to the tip if bins are full flushed all toilets swept all floors mopped floor in hall and kitchen if bar has been used or weather has been wet and have you PAID?

HIRING REGULATIONS
Hirer’s responsibilities A booking form (obtainable from the Village Hall) must be completed and returned to the bookings secretary. Usage of Hall must be clearly stated at the time of booking and an estimate given for how long the hall will be required. Please remember to include set up and tidy-up time. The hirer must ensure the capacity of the Hall (120) is not exceeded. Any equipment brought into the hall for use is the responsibility of the hirer and suitable insurance must be obtained. It is not covered by Village Hall insurance. Bouncy Castles are at hirer’s own risk and must be covered by hirer’s or operator’s own public liability insurance; they are not covered by Village Hall insurance. Only heating appliances provided by the Village Hall Committee may be used. Bar licences are the responsibility of the person hiring the Hall. Teenage parties; 4 adults to be nominated as stewards to act as guarantors.
Payment arrangements Remittance envelopes are available in the Village Hall. Please follow the payment instructions on them and leave in the safe deposit box at the end of your hire. Hire will be deemed to commence when you start to set up the hall and will be continuous until you have tidied up.
Indemnity The Village Hall Committee will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to personal property either inside or outside the Hall. The Village Hall Committee will not be held responsible for injury to individuals using the Hall.
Noise Music and noise must be kept down to a reasonable level to avoid nuisance. All noise must cease by midnight.
Parking Cars should be parked with due consideration to other road users, neighbours and at the owner’s risk. Please do not block driveways nor use them for turning.
Cleaning It is the hirer’s responsibility to leave the hall clean and tidy, otherwise an additional £10 fee will be levied to cover cleaning. Please follow the tick sheet in the information brochure. Rubbish and recycling to be placed in the respective wheelie bins outside the hall. Any excess rubbish to be taken to the tip.
Use of Fridge Please make sure that fridge is cleaned and switched off at the end of your hire and the door left open.
Furniture and Equipment Hirers are asked to leave all chairs and tables as they were found. This includes replacing articles taken from the storerooms and cupboards. The upholstered chairs are not to be used outside and are not available for external hire. All heating and lighting must be turned off before vacating the Hall, otherwise the hirer is liable for an excess charge. Please do not adjust the settings on the electric heaters in the toilets as these are for frost purposes. All breakages must be reported to the Secretary (01572 747600) and a charge will be made for their replacement. Damage of any kind must also be reported to the Secretary. It would also be appreciated if faults (eg light bulbs) could also be reported. |
