Barrowden Parish Council has 7 elected members, who meet 6 times a year in Barrowden Village Hall.  Parish Council meetings usually start at 7:45pm, which allows the public 15 minutes to speak before the start of the meeting.  It has responsibility for maintaining the village greens, recreation ground, pond and other open spaces in the village.  The parish council is consulted on all planning matters in the village and has close links with other organisations in the village including the Barrowden Charities.  The community are actively involved in making Barrowden a great place to live.  In 2003 a Village Design Statement was completed, which will ensure that Barrowden retains its charm and develops in years to come.   And in 2005 a Parish Plan was completed.

Barrowden is in the Ketton ward and it has two county councillors, who are Barrie Roper and Hugh Rees.  They can be contacted by e-mail broper@rutland.gov.uk and hrees@rutland.gov.uk.  They hold ward surgeries on the first Saturday in each month taking the months alternately. They are in Barrowden Village Hall between 9.15am – 9.45am and in Ketton Parish Room between 10 am – 10.30am.
